General Rules of Basketball

Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891. Naismith was a Canadian physical education instructor who was trying to create a new game to keep his students active during the winter months. He wrote down the basic rules of the game and hung a peach basket on the wall of the gymnasium at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts.
